Dating Styles and Evolution
Most couples will have some form of dating before they become an official relationship, although in some cultures this is not necessarily true. In its simplest terms dating is an agreement for a couple to meet up and partake in some for of activity, like eating a meal or going to the cinema.
There has been much development of the traditional dating approach. The first development away from a traditional date probably occurred with the start of blind dates. Blind dates do not have a great reputation as they are often perceived as a date where friends have interfered on another person’s life. What normally happens is that people who have never met before go on a date; this could mean that the couple has nothing in common and so could easily turn into an embarrassing experience. That isn’t to say though that this form of dating cannot also be successful.
Another form of dating evolution was the speed dating phenomenon. This proved to be a great way to meet a lot of people in a short amount of time, and it is possible to meet someone whose interests match your own, and arrange a proper date at a later time. Speed dates normal work by one group of people sitting down, say women, and then men come and sit with them, when a bell goes the men move onto the next woman and the women therefore have a different person to talk to.
The advancement of technology had made it possible to get to know people without having to actually meet them. Online dating allows people to search for potential dates based on set criteria like age and interests. This form of dating may allow for compatible people to meet although having the same interests is no guarantee that a relationship can develop. Even online dating has moved on as virtual dating now occurs as well. Virtual dating is all about the creation of avatars to undertake dates in an online environment. There are many complicated settings where a virtual date could take place, and whilst some people would like it to lead to a real date, many others just like to have an internet relationship.
Dating, in what ever form it may come, is a great way to meet new people in the hope of forming a new relationship. For those in a relationship, many couple find a date with their partner is a great way to keep the relationship fresh.
